Baby alpaca throw draped over a sofa (concept image)

We just wanted a better blanket.

We love alpacas. And we kept running into the same problem: most “cozy” blankets are polyester, acrylic or some synthetic blend. They feel soft in the store, then pill, trap heat and leave sensitive skin itchy.

Baby alpaca kept coming out on top. It’s naturally soft, breathable and free of lanolin, so it’s gentle on sensitive skin, with nothing synthetic touching you. So we made the blanket we couldn’t find: 100% baby alpaca, made to last.

Grown high in the Andes.

Our fiber comes from alpacas raised by herding families in the Peruvian highlands, where cold mountain air grows an incredibly soft, lofty fleece.

We use only baby alpaca, the finest grade of that fleece, and never blend it with anything else. The result is a throw that feels light, stays warm and is made to be loved for years.

Just alpaca. Nothing else.

Many alpaca throws are blends, often 60–80% alpaca with acrylic mixed in to bring the cost down. We started Good Alpaca to make the real thing: 100% baby alpaca, no acrylic, no shortcuts.

Shorn once a year. Never harmed.

Alpacas are shorn once a year in spring, a lot like a haircut. It keeps them cool through the warm months and the fleece grows right back. The families who raise them depend on healthy, well-cared-for herds.
